So here's what I have decided. I need something to do on a regular basis here. Now favorite pins of the week. Every Thursday (just to be an oddball here) I will share my favorite pins on Pinterest since I am on there way more than any other site. If you care to, you can also follow my boards on Pinterest! Follow here

The First Day

The day finally came! My first day of college classes.

The one thing that ran through my mind early this morning? What in the world am I going to wear?! I am notorious for not planning my outfits the night prior. It just never happens. So this morning I went through two different outfits back and forth and finally made my decision. Here it is; the result of a solid 45 minutes of indecisive-ness :)

I always love this cami/cardi combo. The cardigan is also super light, making it really wearable even in late August.

Pretty sure I am on the verge of wearing these shoes out!

Of course I have to have a massive ring to pull the outfit's like my thing.

And a lovely top knot.

With how hot it has been in Pittsburgh lately, shorts and dresses seem like they might be my friends for awhile. I cannot wait, however, to throw on jeans, sweaters and boots. I am a sucker for autumn.

Nail Art

I know, I know. It is the weekend and I usually do not spend my weekends blogging. But I find myself here at 10:44 at night with nothing to do. So I decided to venture into new waters with my nails. Remember my ombre attempt? This time I did something that I absolutely NEVER do just because I do not have the steadiest hand when it comes to applying nail polish.

This time around I worked with designs. Usually I tend toward a solid color, but I have been getting into the school spirit and decided to incorporate my school colors (and just in time for our first home football game next weekend!)

That's right! Look at me being daring. It actually came out a lot better than I had expected. It did take a VERY long time for me to do. So, if like me, you lack the talent of flawlessly and quickly applying nail polish I would set aside a good bit of time to do this. In order to make sure the lines were remotely straight I just used some pieces of tape that I cut as thin as I needed them.

Have fun with this one!

Dorm Dreaming

Hail to the weekend!

Here it is, the two days separating me from the start of classes. Summer certainly flew by. I have had a few days to settle into my new living space, and I am very pleased with the outcome. May I present to glorious dorm:

Behold! The less than comfortable mattress that I get to lay upon this year.

My mini coffee shop. I would not be this perky without it!

My desk space. Most of my time will be spent here...typing away.

And our wonderful cosmetics...and coffee maker. (You do what you can with the space you are given!)

The closet is still a work in process. You know, of course that would be where I dedicate the most effort. It is only characteristic of me.

Well what do you think? Any cool dorm decorating ideas?

100% Collegiate

It's been awhile, eh?

So sorry. I was in Maryland most of last week with a very disagreeable wifi connection so I was unable to get onto the internet. Then I went through the trauma of packing for school. Today I went through the trauma of unpacking in my dorm and saying goodbye to my parents (buckets of tears were shed!) But I am back!!

This will be a very brief entry considering I am very tired. I just wanted to let you all know that I am alive and well. Because I know that you were totally concerned, right?  Tomorrow I will (hopefully!) have something great to share with you guys. Pics of the dorm are to come!

Any fellow college bounders? Any good move in stories?

And In This Ring....

Hi guys! Happy Monday!

On such a beautiful day, I am glad to have a day off. Though I was slightly depressed when I get home from shopping for my dorm and saw how much I have left in my account. Maybe I should be working more...

But that is not the topic of today's blog. Today I want to share with you an obsession. An obsession that could end up escalating at the same rate the shoe epidemic hit me. I am talking ring obsession. All rings, I must point out, have been obtained during just two trips to the beach. Darn those "3 for $10" deals! They always get me. These rings caught my eye because they are interesting. I think you would agree.

Are these not the greatest?! In no way will I ever regret buying these; believe me, I have regretted many purchases. I wear them all the time, and they always attract a compliment or two. The only thing is, I only wear them with outfits that do not already have any prints or embellishments. I really do not like to go over the top with accessories or shiny things. These grab enough attention for an outfit!

The Chanel Effect

I do not think that I have actually told you in what subject I intend to major in school. The answer, my friends, is English Writing. Basically it is my school's equivalent to journalism. For the longest time I have wanted to be a fashion writer. Of all the potential dream jobs my little mind has frothed over for the past 18 years of life, this one has stuck the longest. is destiny.

Since I had discovered fashion as my calling (I overdramatize just for effect ;]) one designer has reigned superior in my mind and has lasted as my one true inspiration when it comes to dressing myself: Chanel. I have been informed that this answer seems to be the textbook answer to the question "Who is your favorite designer?" but it is true for me! To me, Chanel epitomizes how a woman should dress to convey beauty, confidence, and strength.

Why is this the topic of today's blog, you ask? Well because, for the hour before my eye exam today I wandered aimlessly around Barnes and Noble looking for something interesting. Actually what I find truly interesting and a little disappointing is that "teen paranormal romance" is now a section of the store...they legitimately have the signs made for it. But I digress...I headed back to the art section because there is ALWAYS something to jump out at me back there. What did I discover between Halston and Fashion Drawing for Dummies? This gem!

So obviously, I bought it. Can you tell that I may just be an impulse shopper? Not quite a good thing on a student's budget. But books, especially this one, are something with which I just cannot help myself. I cannot wait to break it open tonight before I go to sleep.

Time for the generic question: Who is YOUR favorite designer?

Ombré Effect

Getting slightly tired of doing my nails and getting the same boring result: regular, solid colors. Occasionally, I think nothing of it if the color is different, new and interesting. I have decided to make my nails a little more fun and shake things up. To start out easy I opted for the popular ombré effect. While one would think it easy, I managed to come off less than perfect, haha! Hey, I have to work with the colors that I have. I put my elite pinks to the test and came out with a less than perfect but still remotely favorable result.
