Obviously I am going to keep this blog here just because I can't transfer ALL of my content to the new site and I like to reference myself here and there :) I hope that you will all follow Sunday Brunch!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Currently...
Happy Monday (sincerity here is questionable...it's been snowing for 3 solid days!)
In an attempt to blog more with my very awkward schedule this semester, I am keeping Monday posts short and sweet. I have been seeing a lot more posts like this one more where bloggers let their readers get to know them a little bit better by describing what they're doing at the moment. So that's what Mondays are going to be simply because I am too busy--4 classes until 8:30 pm and PR committee meetings.
Currently:
Listening to: "Fashion" Lady Gaga
Reading: My Twitter feed--everyone is talking about spending the night last night in the Pete for tonight's basketball game against Duke. H2P!
Eating: This pomegranate and blueberry cereal which I picked up last week during my very first trip to Trader Joe's...I love Trader Joe's!
Drinking: Coffee with a bit of almond milk
Wishing: The snow would melt and I will have a painless walk to classes
Feeling: Sluggish. Can I just stay home and watch the Carrie Diaries on Netflix?

How are you feeling this cold, snowy Monday?

Gimme That Feedback
I promise to pay attention to all...this was just too funny!
"New year, new me." <--- This is what I've been hearing constantly around this floor. Everyone has vowed to change for the better. The new year has not only caused me to think about making personal changes, but also changes to the blog--what better time to do it, right? So what I want to know is what have you liked about this blog, what would you like to see more of? Any design tips? Fill up the comments with your feedback! It's always appreciated!

Four Favorites: Holiday Wishlist
This week I am very excited to be co-hosting one of my favorite link-ups to participate in: Four Favorites! This link-up is hosted by Ashlyn of Let It Be Beautiful and Kristin of Fancy Things. This week's theme is your holiday wishlist. These are a few of the things I have been pining for the most since the gift giving season began:
iPhone case: Recently one of my favorite sites, The Everygirl, opened their online store with just a few affordable little gifts just in time for Christmas! One of my favorites is this iPhone case (available for the 4/4S/5/5S) with a wonderful quote!
SS Print: I am very open with the fact that I am a huge fan of Stephanie Sterjovski's lovely prints. One in particular that I can see perched on my wall is this beautiful ombré pink one with an Audrey Hepburn quote--I'm also a huge Audrey fan!
Twirl by Kate Spade: We sold this fragrance at work last year and every time I would work in the beauty department I would stop by this bottle and spritz a little on. I'm obsessed with it!
Vinyl: One of the big things I asked for this year was a record player which has been confirmed. I currently only have one record (the My Fair Lady soundtrack) and would love some more to go along with my new player!

Four Favorites: Black Out
Ooh is it the weekend yet? I am ready for at least one relaxing day! However, Halloween is tomorrow so there is some excitement during the week. Seriously...this is like an early Christmas for me; I love Halloween! With this spooky day coming up, this week's Four Favorites link-up seems fairly appropriate: favorite black items. I really don't think there are any cuter items out there than the ones I have selected above. Like that bag? The bow is adorable, right?! And the ghost sweater--who doesn't love ghost sweaters?! Anyway, I am going to keep this one short today due to my continued excess of class readings. Enjoy your night and I hope you have a spooktacular Halloween!

Interesting Reads: IFB
Image: here
So I found this article here on IFB yesterday about the fact that procrastinating can be beneficial and was really intrigued by it. Often times when I am studying or trying to focus on writing up a post for the site and find myself on some social media site or reading some other article on Buzzfeed that I really shouldn't be reading. Every time I catch myself I feel just a little guilty about allowing myself to get side-tracked and distracted. But this article argues for allowing yourself to "waste time." After reading the article I feel a little bit better about those times when I let my mind and attention wander. I'm not saying I am going to intentionally just throw aside what I'm doing and go on Pinterest for an hour, but when I have been committing to something for awhile sometimes the old brain needs to take a few minutes to unwind, reboot and re-adjust.

Do you find yourself "wasting time" often? Is it something you try to avoid? What do you think after reading this article?

Guest Post: Transitioning From Summer to Fall
Today is the final day of the back-to-school guest blogger series (tomorrow is move-in day and I doubt I will have time to hit publish on anything!) Today Hannah and Taylor from Fearless Fashion of Tomorrow--how great is that name?!--are sharing their tips for taking your closet from summer to fall.
Summer is the time to chill out and throw on anything that will take the heat and be super comfortable to last those long, warm days.
Transition to fall, when lazy summer days are over!
Cue adorable floral patterns, pants, cardigans, and lastly the very trendy high-low skirt!
Although this skirt (from Forever 21) was a huge staple and trend this summer, you can easily transition it into fall by adding a favorite cardigan, a simple tank or tee, grabbing a cute necklace, and bam! But don't forget the super cute sandals! A super put together outfit that doesn't break the bank.
Circle or skater skirts, whatever you would like to call them, were also a huge trend this summer! Sported here is a denim one (from Target) that is both comfortable and adorable! Bonus. It's also paired with a white crochet lace tank (from Forever 21) which is also a favorite summer item of mine, because it is super versatile! I made this back to school appropriate by adding a long cardigan over the ensemble and throwing on my black converse.
We hope you guys found this post helpful in making your summer wardrobe fall appropriate!
XO,
T&H
Thanks again to Taylor & Hannah for writing today's post! How great are these outfits? I am especially in love with Hannah's hi-lo skirt.

Guest Post >>> Styling Tips: Back to School
This week is the week I move into my dorm out at Pitt. Because I am going to be so busy shopping, gathering and packing I have recruited a few bloggers to share their back-to-school styles with you. Today we are hearing from the girls over at The Styletographer (written by 3 best friends living in Mexico!) on how to style the perfect back-to-school look!
Nobody likes breathing the last breeze of summer, especially when school is just around the corner and our normal routine is about to start; but getting back to normal is fun too, especially because you get a new chance to show off a very cool school style!
Sometimes we get very lazy to dress up for school, we tend to think it is time to pull out our AE pants and hoodies or our polo shirts because we don't want to make any effort to look classy or put together. Today we are going to give you some really simple tips to put up a nice outfit and have everything ready to start your new year!
1. Pick covetable blouses: choose nice and pretty tops with something special, that way is not necessary to wear a lot of accessories!
2. Natural makeup: if your face is very nice and you don't need makeup you are lucky! But if you like to wear makeup, wear it naturally! Remember, a good makeup Is the one you cannot see!
3. Big Back-Pack: personally, I rather use a big fashionable bag, but anything works! Just think of all the things you have to carry and the time you will be carrying it!
4. Comfy shoes: sometimes moving from campus to campus or class to class could take you a lot of time! Is better to always wear shoes which you can move, run and walk around! Tip: if you have a presentation and you need heels, carry some flats so you can exchange them in the inter!
5. Hairdos: there are infinite of do's, easy and simple! So you don't have any excuse to wear the "I just woke up" look anymore!
6. Don't use short clothes! You are going to school, not the beach, remember you have to wear your clothes tight enough to show your figure but loose enough to show your a lady!
Hope you find these tips useful and put them on work!! Xoxo

Blogging in August
Image: here
Hello everyone and happy August!
If you're in the same boat as me (the student boat) these are your last few weeks of freedom from academia. I recognize that quite a few of you are college students as well--some just starting your freshman year which is so exciting! So I have decided to dedicate August to back-to-school posts. Just consider this Back-to-School month on All That Glitters!
I am still in the process of planning my posts for this month but I have been listening to your comments and feedback and can tell you that a first day of school outfit post will most definitely be included. I have been racking my brain thinking of some other topics under the umbrella of back-to-school and do have a few other ideas, but would love some suggestions! Thanks for continuing to read ATG and for all of your feedback!
<3 Ashley
What kind of back-to-school posts would you like to see this month? What are some things that upcoming college freshmen would like to know?
P.S. Speaking of back-to-school, the 'Wear It Loud' giveaway with rue21 is now closed. The winner and runners-up will be announced early next week. Thank you to everyone who entered and good luck! :)

Finally Taking a Vacation
Photo: here
It’s finally here! The day I have been pining for for the past month: the last day of work before we leave for vacation. This year a long trip feels very much well deserved.
I will be gone for all of next week so that means that the blog is definitely not going to get AS MUCH attention as it probably deserves. I do have a few posts planned and will be taking my computer with me only for the sake of a VERY special post that I have coming up on Wednesday (so don’t miss it!) But can honestly say that I will not be posting everyday. How can I with a beach in front of me?
However, you will by no means be losing contact with me; in this day and age I find it difficult to completely fall off the face of the Earth. I’m sure there will be Instagramming galore from me. If you haven’t yet you can follow my Instagram amor0713. Also, don’t forget that I have a new Twitter for the blog @ashley_atg. I just wanted to make sure I posted this before I left; there will still be a TGIF Pins post tomorrow though!

Just A Note
Hey everyone! Just wanted to drop by and point out something that I don't know if you have had the chance to notice. After the blog turn 1 last month I started doing little things here and there to improve it and how I function with it. I ended up creating a Twitter account that is specifically for this blog (previously I just used my personal account) So you can now click on the Twitter icon in the sidebar and follow me @ashley_atg if you would like blog updates via Twitter! I will in turn follow you back!

Just a Friendly Reminder
I'm sure by now you've all heard about Google Friend Connect (GFC) being shut down which means you will not be able to follow and receive updates from my blog. If you would like to continue following All That Glitters (and other blogs for the matter...) you can follow on Bloglovin'. I have a link in the side bar but here is the link just in case -----> Follow on Bloglovin'

Day 21: Favorite Posts
Day 21: List your 5 favorite posts on your blog.
I have written about a lot over the past year on this blog, and today is the day that I get to highlight some of my favorites for you!
1. Reflections: Freshman Year
I loved all of the feedback I got on this post! This was by far my most popular piece that I've written all year. Whenever I reach something that I consider to be a milestone I like to take a breather and think about how far I've come, how I have changed, and what I need to work on.
2. Shopping Tips: Too Expensive?
This post was the result of a shopping trip and personal experience. I find it's always best to write what you know, and I love sharing tips that I have found to be successful (at least in the situations I have used them in!)
3. Spring Inspired
I believe this was written when it was still quite cold in Pittsburgh; there may have even been snow on the ground! I don't do many styling posts but I thought it would be nice to get a little glimpse of spring and what was coming. It was a hopeful post!
4. Some Down Time
I am a big supporter of what I refer to as sanity time. This post was written during a point when it was cold out, everyone else was in a late class, and I had no work to do. What a beautiful time!
5. The Final Countdown
This was written during finals week at the end of the fall semester. That is the time where, if you haven't learned yet, you learn how you study. This post was just as list of things that I found helpful for me.
What kind of posts are you interested in? (Consider this feedback! I will use it for the upcoming year!)

Day 10: Memories
This picture is not from that birthday...but I couldn't find those pictures. I thought this was cute and sassy though ;) |
Easy enough, it's my second birthday! I remember literally nothing prior to that and to be honest I only remember two scenes from the day. I remember waking up in the morning and walking into the dining and seeing just a few streamers, and a new "art station"--one side was a chalk board and the other was a dry erase board. Fast forward to the afternoon when I remember being sung "Happy Birthday" to by my family and blowing out a "2" candle on a chocolate cake.
What is your earliest memory?

Day 9: Modern Music Mania
![]() |
Photo here |
I like to think that my iPod playlist is fairly diverse. If you were swipe through my music you would see that I was and still am an avid supporter of the boyband movement (NSync for life!) occasion a listen to the best of Duran Duran and do enjoy the occasional Lady Gaga. Overall, I am a pop fan though a few more genres have found their way onto my radar thanks to my friends. I have found that I have become a little more disconnected from mainstream, Top 40 music since I don't listen to the radio and, let's face it, MTV isn't going to introduce me to any new artists. I wouldn't say that any of today's popular artists are very groundbreaking. So many artists cover or sample older music that I like better when performed by the original artist. In fact, I am a little disappointed.
What are your views on modern or mainstream music? What is your favorite music to listen to?

Day 4: The Perfect Casting
Photo: here
This is an excellent question which I do not entirely think that I could have come up with an answer to on my own. So after asking a few friends who have gotten to know me well I received...no unanimous responses. But I did find one interesting and a few others agreed when I asked about this one: Meryl Streep. Eliminating the factor of age completely I won't disagree with them. They cite mainly my humor and the way I carry myself. I find her incredible and will take these comparisons as compliments! :)
Who would be cast as you in the movie of your life?

Day 2: In 10 Years...
I must admit that much of that kind of thinking has been put aside for thoughts of classes, exams and essays but I love a good daydreaming session, so here it goes!
Exactly 10 years from now, I will be getting ready to turn 29 and will NOT be panicking about being on the edge between my 20s and 30s. I hope that I will be well set on my ideal career path and embracing the ups and downs that are inevitable on that front. I would very much like to be married by that point or at least in a very loving relationship. Maybe kids, maybe not yet...I'm not going to set that deadline in stone. In 10 years I would like to have quite a few adventures and good times to look back on--basically all those trips to Europe that my friends and I have been talking about need to happen! I want to be worldly and have had experiences (but will continue with even more!) In 10 years I see a happy women who is very content with little to no regrets and with much more wisdom.
So now it's your turn...
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Little Changes
Hey all!
Just wanted to do a little side announcement today. If you haven't noticed, the blog has and will be changing little by little as the days pass. In just a few months All That Glitters will be coming up on it's first birthday. I am working--slowly but surely--to make improvements here and there where I see fit. I am very much open to suggestions that you think would work for my blog and make it just a little bit more successful.
Currently changes that I have made include small things like font changes, color scheme and more noticeable widgets like the "You May Also Like..." underneath each post and comments using Disqus (so that those who do not have Google/Blogger accounts may also comment if they would like. I am working to make this more accessible for people.
Any feedback?!
