Rainy Days

Photo: here
The next few days in my neck of the woods is supposed to be wet. Rain, rain, rain. But I'm not complaining too much. I actually enjoy the rain. The whole day just seems so much more subdued and not as hectic. I feel slightly less guilty about waking up and spending just a bit longer in bed. I can feel more relaxed in yoga pants and a sweatshirt. I don't feel hurried to get anything done; reading a book and maybe doing some laundry are the only things on my "to-do" list. However, I would like to find some different things to fill my rainy days off. I'm currently looking for some fun DIYs to do; I'm thinking of things to do for my dorm room this coming year (like dressing up my pin board to match the colors in my room!)

Any DIY suggestions? How do you spend your rainy days?

Movies: Letters to Juliet

One thing you have to know about me is that, for the most part, I am kind of late with a lot of entertainment (am I really that lazy?!) Last night I caught Letters to Juliet on ABC Family last night. I remember when it first came out that many of my friends were very excited to see it and I recall having some interest in it myself. But do to my lack of money and a car at that time, that never really happened.
When I saw it on last night I decided to finally watch it. I loved it! It was such a sweet story and let's face it, I'm just a big girl. I'm a sucker for romantic movies.

Have you seen Letters to Juliet? What did you think?

Weekend Wrap-Up: Vintage

I hope everyone had a relaxing and fun weekend. It was quite hot here and aside from going to work, I was not very willing to step outside of the house. After work on Saturday we went to lunch in Carlisle and ended up walking down the street. After hitting a cool candy shop (Pop Rocks galore!) my mother and I stepped into a vintage shop called Miss Ruth's Time Bomb and had some fun browsing through some old fashioned duds.

After all of that browsing, this moment happened:

That's right, I discovered this tan '60s jumpsuit and decided to try it on just for kicks. I didn't actually think I would be able to pull off the look, but I was very excited to find that it was for the most part a perfect fit. Although my mother fully supported the purchase of this garment, I couldn't bring myself to buy it. With no idea what kind of shoes to wear with the suit I wasn't prepared to commit to it.

How was your weekend?

Fashion: Cannes Film Festival

Natalie Wood at the 1962 festival. Photo: here
Yes, yes, yes...I know I am kind of late on this one. Between work and think about the posts assigned to the 30 Day Blogging Challenge I didn't have too much room to sit down and give a list of some of my favorite looks from the festival. Here are my top 3 picks (no particular order...I'm that lazy.)

Photo: here
Emma Watson: Emma looked stunning in this Chanel dress at the premiere of her new film 'The Bling Ring.' Pretty much anything this girl wears, I will adore. Her style is so simple and never feels over the top or like it's too much. Black and white also seemed to be a trend on the red carpets at the festival this year.

Jessica Biel: I loved this Marchesa dress and I love how cute the shape is on her. The necklace is pretty killer as well!

Freida Pinto: I love the color of this Gucci dress; it looks great on her. With the belt I think that it has a kind of Grecian feel to it that I like.

Who wore your favorite looks from the Cannes Film Festival this year?

Day 30: Letting Go

Photo: here

I am sorry for my complete silence yesterday. The internet was down here and on top of that a marathon of Inside the Actors Studio. So honestly, there was no chance of me ever being online. But good news: the internet is back and Tropic Thunder isn't on until 2! So here I am offering the last of the 30 Day Blogging Challenge posts: React to the term 'letting go.'

Letting go is certainly something that I need to do more of! I have a tendency to dwell; I try not to, but my brain just seems programmed to remind me of things that really put me on edge. I think that letting go does involve acknowledging the problem, but instead of worrying about it try to learn from it. Know what you could have done differently but then let it go. Free yourself from the worry because it will only hold you back; letting go means moving forward freely.

What does "letting go" mean to you?

Happy Memorial Day

Memorial Day ceremony in Hawaii. Photo: here
Happy Memorial Day everyone! Would you believe that I have to work today? It's true...the world of retail does not take a break. Thankfully my family has decided to wait to eat until 6 tonight. I am very grateful for this.

I hope that everyone enjoys the rest of their holiday weekend. Eat up, drink up and relax! But also, remember the actual meaning behind the holiday. Take some time and think about those men and women serving and defending our country.

How do you celebrate Memorial Day?

Day 26: The Best

Day 26: Describe the qualities you like best in yourself.

After yesterday's discussion about the worst qualities I want to take the time to discuss some of the best qualities. As quick as I am to rattle off things I would like to improve about myself I also am very well aware of my redeeming qualities.

My smile. I always get complimented at work, school, other public venues about my smile.

My sense of humor. I value a great sense of humor in others and have also been able to get some laughs myself. I try not to take some things to seriously because half of the time...they really aren't that serious.

My intelligence. While I say that, I am not the kind of person to tout that intelligence around others needlessly (in fact, I hate people who do that!)

What are some of the best qualities that you like in yourself?
