Money Matters

Hello all! It is once again Monday. I was rudely awoken 6 this morning by the sound of construction on the new dorm across the street. Needless to say, I am VERY tired - not exactly the best way for me to start after my relaxing spring break. I was also disappointed to see a thin layer of snow and ice on the ground. Spring officially starts on Wednesday...I just want warmer weather!

Anyway, over break in between cleaning, dinner out with the girls and sleeping in I had the obligatory money conversation with my parents. Since I have expressed interest in studying abroad, and my federal aid will be going up each year I do need to manage my money a little bit better. It's also a struggle right now since I do not actually have a job while I am in school. I work over winter and summer breaks to make my money for the following semester. What I started doing this semester was looking at my total in my account after my last paycheck went in and divided by the number of weeks in the semester. I figured that I could allow myself a weekly budget of about $40. Thankfully, I do not actually spend that much every week - some weeks I do not even spend $1 - otherwise at the end of the semester I would have absolutely nothing in the bank.

What do you do to watch your spending?

  1. I do the same thing. I use a cash budget and only use my card for things like gas.

    1. That's a good idea. I don't usually carry cash on me so I am always using my card which in a way, I think, enables me a bit in making bigger purchases. Thanks for the comment!
