Back to Business

Image: here

I cannot express enough how relaxing last week was for me. I'm going to be so upset when I graduate and Spring Break is not an option for me anymore. I will say that by Spring Break standards, it was rather uneventful--the struggles of the poor college student. I was quite alright with this though; after a week of study, study, study I was very happy to have the chance to just be lazy for 10 solid days. I'm talking sleeping in, camping on the couch in front of the television, making whatever food I want, and blazing through some leisure reading. I have another Book Club post in the works for ya already!

But that dreamy, relaxing week is over. It ended with the long and boring bus ride back to the 'Burgh yesterday. It's time to get back to business. We are in the last stretch of the semester and things are going to start getting busy for me all the while my friends and I are going to be planning as much fun as we can before we are separated for four long months. So I apologize in advanced if the posting is a little thinner than it has been--I think I definitely stepped it up this past week though! Time to attack the last of sophomore year!

Any other students on Spring Break have fun plans?! (I know a bunch have break this week!)

It's December

Image: here

Words cannot describe how happy I am to see December again! I love the holiday season so much. Thanksgiving was wonderful; it was great to see family and some friends over the break and of course the dinner wasn't half bad either! Then I went out for Black Friday at midnight WITHOUT a pre-shopping nap and didn't physically harm someone like I thought I would. Instead I did a majority of my Christmas shopping. I got gifts for my brother, one of my good friends and the person on my floor that I picked for Secret Santa (and that gift's a good one!)

Now I'm back to school and ready to buckle down for finals week before I get to go home again in two weeks. Of course with the long break comes work. I cannot say I'm looking forward to that little bit, but you gotta do what you gotta do. But before I even start thinking about the highs and lows of Christmas...I need to get through finals!

How was your Thanksgiving? What are you looking forward to in December?

A Little More Positivity

Photo: here
Good morning everybody!

Once again we find ourselves waking up to Wednesday and seeing another weekend on the horizon. The purpose of today's post is my attitude as of late. I think I've been really negative and maybe a little lazy and grouchy these past few weeks. I've been thinking a lot about work lately since some changes occurred that stressed me out a little bit. The thing is...it shouldn't be stressing me out. I'm the kind of person that let's something worry them and then continues to worry about it. I have a constant lump in my throat.

But I have decided that this summer is only going to get more and more miserable if I keep up this frame of mind. So here's what I am going to do: since writing comes easier than talking to me I am going to start journaling again. Anytime I feel overwhelmed or worried about something I am going to write it down, close the book and leave it at that. I am going to wake up every morning and remember that it's a new day and yesterday's issues are not my problem today. I'm also going to make the most of the summer and find motivation to do more and make more plans (albeit evening plans but still...)

How do you keep a positive attitude?

Keeping Your Priorities In Order

One thing that I have always had difficulty with and have finally made the decision to take on is prioritizing. So many times this year alone have I fallen behind in a class because I have left an assignment to the last minute so I have to complete that rather than the smaller reading assignments. One of my promises to myself for 2013 was to become more organized in my work.

Let me tell you, old habits die hard. I am admittedly guilty of falling behind once or twice since January 1st (I know, already?!) But with two due dates pushed back one week - new favorite professor? - I have vowed to buckle down and not get distracted. Rather, I will plan for something to do to reward myself after I finish all of my work. I have also started keeping a more detailed calendar on my desk that also includes all my due dates. Before I left for college, my aunt gave me a list of advice for college success. One of the items was to keep a calendar and follow it. I should have listened to her earlier!

Here's to my new, hopefully successful, organized system.

How do you prioritize and keep your work organized? Or is that something you need to work on as well?
