Help A Sister Out?

Well that was quite the break! I recognize the fact that we are 14 days into October and I have a grand total of like 5-6 posts up. But this is midterm season and I have an exam TOMORROW! This entire weekend has consisted of me sitting at a table with all books open trying to make sense of the French Revolution while taking study breaks to watch football with everyone else on the floor. Anyway things are starting to come together and a feeling of preparedness is starting to come over me, so I thought I would slip in a little blog post before recommencing the study session.

I actually would really love your opinion on something! I am looking on some fashion advice. Sweater weather and boot season is upon us and I have one pair of boots that is giving me some trouble. I bought a pair of white boots from Charlotte Russe a year or two ago and I still don't know what I am going to wear them with! But I have to wear them, you know? They look like the boot pictured above. So what would one wear with white boots? What color top? Dark wash jeans? I don't know!

Fancy Footwear

During the winter we dress with one goal in mind: be comfortably warm. Since we dress with this in the front of our minds, it can be very difficult to dress both practically and attractively. I find most problems rest on my feet. I pull an outfit together and my shoes have no effort put toward them. So I have endeavored to put together a few different outfits paired with the appropriate shoes that are great (or at least tolerable) during the winter.

Riding boots are a go-to for sure! If you invest in a truly good pair, they are warm and very durable. You can wear them in rain and snow and they will wear very well.

A close second are lace up boots. For me they are a little more casual than riding boots (I just think riding boots are a little more polished.) Similarly to riding boots, they are great with skinnies and leggings.

If you are going for a more dressed up look, I think ballet flats are best. I would not wear heels out when it is wet or icy. Simple flats will look great and can keep your feet wet if they are a good and sturdy material.

Those are my picks and really all I wear in the cold months. Have a great Friday, I will have my TGIF pins up in a few hours. Got to get through Italian first!

A Bit of An Edge

Hello all!

Words cannot describe my happiness as the semester is quickly coming to a close. I cannot wait to go home for Christmas and get back to work making some money. :) But as we are getting closer, I have started going through my closet to get ready to take some things out to put in some new purchases after the holidays. I happened upon some pieces that I, for the most part, have not broken out yet. So I said, "Why not?" and wore them together and was pleasantly surprised. The look was overall pretty edgy, which is not how I usually dress; I dress a little more light and pretty. Throughout the day I was taken by the compliments that I received from people all over campus.

I was beyond in love with this skirt when I bought it, but never had a chance to wear it. It is sheer with a shorter, solid black skirt underneath and a faux leather band at the waist. This skirt moves beautifully.

A cropped lace jacket over a slouchy Blondie tour t-shirt.

Black boots that have become neglected but were very comfortable to wear walking across campus.

This entire outfit, aside from the boots, is entirely from Forever 21 (boots from Charlotte Russe.) I have not had a huge inspiration to take many chances lately, but I loved this and the reactions I got. It honestly does not hurt to put in that little extra something to make an outfit really stand out especially, if you are like me at all, you are usually more toned down with your style. Moral of the story: TAKE SOME CHANCES!

Fall Faves

Getting this entry out of the way early today since I have a couple of papers to finish, one more class later, and tonight is Nightmare in the Quad! I have to go down for that early to help with costumes and makeup. Picture it: Last night. My dorm. 2 hours of me learning how to make someone look like a zombie. I feel like I might be prepared now! Hopefully I can go through Haunted Holland (my dorm's haunted house!) I have heard it is actually pretty creepy since it is set up in the tunnels under the quad. Spoooooooky!

Since we are well in to the autumn season I will embrace all cliches and announce to the masses what autumn means to me and why I find it to be an absolutely lovely season in this top 5 list.

5. Riding Boots

I love a good boot! It just doesn't feel right wearing them any other time of the year. 

4. Scarves

As I have stated before in the a blog post dedicated entirely to the scarf, I find them to be essential at this point in the year both aesthetically and for warmth. Fashion and function!

3. Leather Jacket

I like these because they aren't too heavy (not like a big winter coat!) They are more appropriate for the crisp, not so freezing weather that comes with autumn. Plus now, you can get them in so many colors!

2. Pumpkin Spice Latte

Really...what kind of human would I be if this wasn't on the list? I am not a massive flavored coffee fan but I would do some crazy things to get my hands around a warm cup of this! Starbuck's PSL is my Klondike Bar!

1. A Great View

Pitt in fall! I get to walk to class like this? I'm okay with that I guess. :)

Basically, I have just painted for you a picture of my ideal autumn moment. What I would be wearing, drinking, and looking at. I love this season so much; it's just so beautiful.
