NYFW: Final

I am going to keeps this very brief. It is very late, but I do want to weigh in on the last day of New York Fashion Week. I loved it! I loved the colors in the Michael Kors show, and I pretty much saw myself in every single one of the pieces in the Rachel Zoe show. I watched the Anna Sui and Vivienne Tam shows with a friend of mine (great commentary ensued!) We agreed that while the Anna Sui looks might not have fit with us personally, they were definitely interesting and there are certain girls out there that have the look and confidence to pull this look off. I did love the '70s punk inspiration of it and that it did have a tailored quality to it. It was a really cool contrast. The Vivienne Tam show was just so elegant and interesting with the use of shapes and geometrics in the garments (square cut outs and triangles that pop with color)

While I am sad that NYFW is indeed over, I thought that this was a great way to end it. All the shows that I saw were wonderful, and I am very excited for Spring 2013. :)

NYFW: Day 6

Hello there :)

Today was Day 6 in the series of fashion shows in New York City. Sad that it is drawing to a close, but hey, off to London next! Hopefully those shows will also be broadcast on YouTube (calculating the time difference!)

Anyway, unfortunately I was very in and out of todays shows due to the fact that I do not want to flunk out of school right away. So I did have to devote sometime to reading and essay writing. But now that all of that is out of the way I can let you know my thoughts on what I did see, supplemented with information about the other shows from my trust friend, Google.

The only shows I actually did see today were Tory Burch and Badgley Mischka. In no way did they disappoint! I absolutely loved Tory's looks. I love the fact that they were very bright and feminine and the skirts were at a very ladylike length. It was altogether a very pretty line. A lot of prints that she mixed were interesting but in a good way. :) I was in love with this look the minute the model hit the runway. I do not even know why! Usually I steer clear of yellow (not my color!)

Next up was Badgley Mischka. Boy was I salivating from the moment the lights went up. Pictured below is the final look from the runway show today. I love the color! It's kind of a grapefruit color. I love the detailing with the glittery/metallic accents. It was definitely a very good choice to end the show.

While I did not get to see them, from the pictures I have seen, Vera Wang and Jenny Packham also delivered great shows. I have seen a lot of the metallic detailing in the Packham looks. I love the colors that I am seeing from Vera as well. Get ready for tomorrow. Surely I will be buzzing after watching Michael Kors and Rachel Zoe's lines making their way down the runway.

Day 5: New York Fashion Week

This post is coming very late indeed! I had to catch up on some of the reading that I have been neglecting for the past few days. Unfortunately every show that was streamed today was during a class =/ story of my life, right? In any event I was able to catch the first half of the Carolina Herrera show and the last half of the Reem Acra show (which was absolutely STUNNING!)

All of the gowns in the Reem Acra show were gorgeous. This red one pictured below was one of my favorites. I love red dresses; red in all its shades captivate me.

I loved how red also worked its way into Carolina Herrera's collection. I loved how much of the time it was in small details like a belt or the shoes.

I am VERY excited for tomorrow's and Wednesday's shows. Some of my favorite designers will be streamed. So you can expect me to be glued to this computer screen (a blessing that my classes do not fall when these shows do!) and for me to report to you on what I saw in excruciating detail.

NYFW: Live Stream

I found it! The link that will be taking control of my week. I feel my poor grades slipping already! Runway shows at NY Fashion Week are bring streamed live right here! In case you end up missing a show there is also a rebroadcast at the end of the day. There is also a schedule on the page too of what shows will be shown on the page. Not all of the shows will be, but some of them are being shown on other sites too; so do not fret. :)

Anyway, I spent much of my day relaxing with my feet up, watching some AMAZING shows. Today I saw Lela Rose, Tracy Reese, and Diane von Furstenburg. All three of these shows were absolutely beautiful. I noticed some colors that seemed to be pretty popular; these are yellow and teal. There was definitely a bit of a tropical vibe that I was picking up. The lace trend also continued through the day along with loose fitting light layers. I loved all the light fabrics too.

Beautiful dress from Lela Rose.

Another trend that caught my eye today was the presence of metallic accents. You can see it in the dress pictured above. I saw this pop into a few pieces throughout the day.

NYFW

Yes it's true! New York Fashion Week is upon us! Unfortunately, since I lack a standing in the fashion industry currently (and a ride!) I with everyone else must rely on reading articles and updates from the blogs of the lucky ones to know what is walking down the runways.

I would love to be sitting front row (or any row for that matter!) at one of the many shows that will be occurring in NYC throughout this period. But I will have to settle for avidly checking for updates and getting clued in on trends to look forward to.

Designers are displaying their looks for the Spring 2013 season, and already some trends have popped up on catwalks throughout the lineup of designers. Lace has shown up in many shows as both full outfits or as a smaller accent. The designs this season also seem to be more loose fitting. No more are body-cons showing up in large numbers (I have been waiting for this! Note: not a fan of body-con)

I will continue to research and scour the web for updates on emerging trends and keep you posted on what I discover.
